Questions for Northville School Board

The teacher’s union salary and benefits package is a very significant driver of future cost. Why has the board completely failed to extract concessions from the union? This District can simply not afford to pay benefit packages that far exceed the benefit packages of its taxpayers. Why does the Board fail to understand this?

  2. Dear CFNCS with all due respect you are so far off base with most of your facts and finger pointing it makes me wonder what you are trying to prove. First off if you expect the teachers to hold masters degrees and professional credentials you need to reward them for the risk they take in preforming their duties. I'm sick and tired of all the attacks on the teaching profession. Teachers are asked to do a job not many would do and most are jealous of.

  3. I have a question for the members of this committee whom have retired with Tier I or Tier II benefits from either a school district or the state. Are you willing to make concessions on your retirement plans to save taxpayer money? Those of us who will retire at Tier III, IV, etc...will never see the benefits that you do now.

  4. It is amazing that learningmatters apparently cannot conceive of the fact that the large majority of tax payers do not eat out of the public trough and have absolutely nothing to do with Tiers. They may not even have a pension, live off their savings and/or SS. Learningmatters should remember that all the public services, including education, in the end get paid from the productivity and innovation of private industry. In the private world, most of the salaries and benefits go up and down with the success of the business. During the last few years this has resulted in more tears than Tiers for quite a few people. The teachers and their unions might want to give this some thought before the Northville District goes bankupt - just like GM.
